Monarchies are always undemocratic. I have more sympathy with the Norwegian uns though because they didn't have colonies and in fact represent a former Swedish and Danish colony. Even so, the Norwegian king is (I believe) head of the Lutheran state church there, which I find just as sectarian as that existing under the Brit system. State-churches are an anarchronism in a Europe where the populace is increasingly secular and even atheistic.
